TRAI's proposal for satellite spectrum allocation aims to enhance Internet access and drive digital inclusion across India.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed administrative allocation of spectrum for satellite-based communication services to accelerate the rollout of satellite internet in India. On 9 May, TRAI outlined a plan that includes a minimum annual usage fee of Rs 3,500 per MHz for spectrum blocks, with an additional 4% levy on Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR). The spectrum allocation will be valid for five years, with an option for a two-year extension.
