INDIA'S MINING & CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT SECTOR AIMS FOR $45 BILLION BY 2030

The story of India's rapid transformation has often been told through the lens of its highways, airports, and growing skylines. But beneath every gleaming flyover and every freshly dug mine lies a deeper story, one of the machines that make it all possible. These mammoth excavators, cranes, dump trucks, and drills are not just tools of progress; they are the heartbeat of an industry now standing at the edge of an extraordinary expansion.

According to a recent report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Kearney, India's mining and construction equipment sector, currently valued at around $16 billion, is projected to reach an impressive $45 billion by 2030. That translates to an annual growth rate of nearly 19 percent, a pace that could make India the fastest-growing market among the world's leading economies for this segment.

This surge reflects more than just numbers on a balance sheet. It signals India's determination to become a self-reliant manufacturing hub, not just for domestic demand but for the world. From the vast coal mines of Jharkhand to the highways stretching across the Deccan plateau, this transformation is being driven by a potent mix of infrastructure investment, mining expansion, and industrial policy reform.

Over the past few years, India has witnessed an unprecedented infrastructure push, new expressways, ports, metro lines, airports, and logistics corridors have sprung up across the country. Every one of these projects depends on a fleet of heavy machinery, making the mining and construction equipment sector central to India's development story. But while demand has soared, much of the equipment used in the past was imported or assembled from foreign components. The new vision aims to change that.
