The Tech of E-commerce
Manufacturing Today
|Decemeber 2024
Technology is revolutionising e-commerce by enhancing demand forecasting, inventory management, and customer experiences through AI, blockchain, IoT, and real-time data analytics.

E-commerce has grown rapidly, driven by technology, particularly AI and ML, which have transformed demand forecasting for manufacturers. Raju Sinha, Chief Business Officer, Fship, highlights, “Advanced algorithms enable businesses to analyse historical and real-time data, uncover patterns, and predict demand with high accuracy. This helps manufacturers finetune production schedules, optimise inventory, and boost supply chain agility.” The outcome is cost savings and the ability to meet customer expectations by delivering the right products on time.
Sandeep Chadha, Founder & CEO, Warehouster, explains, “AI and ML analyse dynamic datasets, including sales trends, consumer preferences, and external factors like market shifts or weather patterns, adapting in real time for highly accurate predictions.” Unlike traditional methods, AI improves production schedules, inventory management, and resource allocation. Chadha adds, “These technologies help businesses predict disruptions early, enabling strategic adjustments to navigate market uncertainties.”
Naman Vijay, CEO & Co-Founder of ClickPost, notes AI helps businesses forecast customer needs for timely product availability, He says, “This is crucial for competition, as the concept-to-consumption cycle has shortened.” Vijay points to features like Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) predictors, which improve trust and operational efficiency by providing accurate order timelines. “For manufacturers, this leads to better alignment of production schedules with supply chain operations, ensuring on-time deliveries and stronger relationships with partners,” he adds.
