43% of India's waste is collected, and a mere 12% is treated effectively. Nimit Aggarwal, Founder and Managing Director of EcoEx, shares how to streamline informal plastic waste sector.

Pioneering India's digital revolution in plastic waste management

India is at a crossroads in its environmental sustainability journey, with plastic waste management emerging as a critical challenge. As the country generates over 62 million tonnes of waste annually, the need for innovative and scalable solutions has never been more urgent. EcoEx, India's first digital marketplace for plastic waste management, is leading this transformation by leveraging technology-driven Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) solutions.

Since its inception in 2018, EcoEx has facilitated seamless compliance for Producers, Importers, and Brand Owners (PIBOs) while connecting recyclers and waste aggregators through a transparent, blockchain-enabled platform. With an extensive network of over 500 recyclers and a track record of collecting 10 lakh MT of plastic waste in 2023-24 alone, EcoEx is setting new benchmarks in responsible waste management.

In this exclusive interview with Manufacturing Today, Nimit Aggarwal, Founder and Managing Director, EcoEx delve into how EcoEx is revolutionising the sector, the impact of plastic credits, and its vision for a circular economy in India.
