Sunjay Kapur, a visionary chairman of auto component giant Sona Comstar, passed away at the age of 53 on June 12, 2025, following what medical reports described as a rare case of anaphylactic shock allegedly triggered by accidentally swallowing a bee during a polo match in London. Kapur, a US citizen, was actively playing the sport he deeply loved at the time of the incident.

Born into a pioneering business family, Sunjay Kapur was the son of the late Surinder Kapur, who founded Sona Group in 1997 and was widely regarded as one of the early stalwarts of India's auto components industry. After Surinder's passing, Sunjay stepped in as Managing Director in 2015, and over the next decade, transformed Sona Comstar.
