1.52 million foreigners visited India in 2021

Due to restrictions linked to Covid-19, the number of foreign to 1.52 million compared to 2.74 million in 2020, dropping by 44.5 per cent, though foreign exchange earnings grew during the same period, as per the India Tourism Statistics 2022 report by the Ministry of Tourism.

In 2019, India had seen saw 10.93 million foreign tourist arrivals, which had dropped by 75 per cent in 2020. This sure is not promising data for aviation and airlines.

Ten countries accounted for 74.39 per cent of the total arrival of foreigners in 2021, while 25.61 per cent of the incoming foreigners were from the rest of the nations, according to the Home Ministry.
