Wi-SUN Alliance is a global non-profit member-based association made up of industry-leading companies. Its mission is to drive the global proliferation of interoperable wireless solutions for use in smart cities, smart metering, smart grids, and other Internet of Things (IoT) applications using open global standards from organizations, such as IEEE, IETF, TIA, TTC, and ETSI. During an interaction with Vidushi, Phil Beecher, CEO & President - Wi-SUN Alliance discussed the adoption of Wi-SUN Alliance's standards by the Bureau of Indian Standards and its potential impact on IoT scalability and sustainability across various sectors in India.

How does adopting Wi-SUN Alliance's Field Area Networks specification by the Bureau of Indian Standards enhance interoperability and standardization in IoT deployments within India's Smart City initiatives?
Adopting Wi-SUN Alliance's Field Area Networks specification by the Bureau of Indian Standards enhances interoperability and standardization in IoT deployments within India's Smart City initiatives through a long-standing collaboration. Initially focused on smart meter networks and smart grid deployments, the Wi-SUN Alliance has worked for over a decade to promote interoperable solutions globally. With many members engaged in standardization efforts, the alliance has international reach. This collaboration extends to India, where members, including myself, have worked with Indian entities and the Bureau of Indian Standards for over five years. By aligning with Wi-SUN Alliance specifications, India's Smart City initiatives can benefit from enhanced interoperability and standardized IoT deployments, facilitating smoother integration and operation of diverse smart city technologies.
Could you elaborate on the specific opportunities and challenges that the Indian market presents for IoT adoption, particularly about smart grid deployments and smart metering?
