Infineon: Pioneering Innovations in EV Charging and Battery Management
Bisinfotech
|April 2025
Infineon Technologies AG is a global semiconductor manufacturer specializing in power systems, automotive electronics, security solutions, and industrial applications.
-

Headquartered in Neubiberg, Germany, Infineon is a key player in advancing energy efficiency, mobility, and IoT security. BIS Infotech Team interacted with the Infineon team at the Convergance India Expo 2025.
During the Interview, Manas Nandi interacted with Girish Padmanabha Kamala, Sr. Director & Country Head-Automotive Sales, & Kim Chang Min, Sr. Managerapplication Marketing. The interview had a set of questions ranging from semiconductor technology to the latest innovations by Infineon in pressure sensors and hydrogen sensors. Here is a glimpse of the interview.
How is Infineon leveraging semiconductor technology to enhance the efficiency of EV powertrain?
Infineon is currently the largest semiconductor manufacturer in the automotive sector. When it comes to electric powertrains, there are three key components: the battery management system (BMS), the traction inverter, and the charger—whether an on-board or off-board charger, depending on the application. As technology advances rapidly, efficiency has become increasingly critical. While lightweighting has its limits, optimizing the efficiency of components and products plays a critical role.
Traction Inverters
In traction inverters, Infineon offers customers significant flexibility to fine-tune their motor controllers based on the gross vehicle weight, as there is no universal solution. This customization allows for greater adaptability.
