|August 09, 2025
In an exclusive interview with BW Businessworld's Vishal Katoch, TINA AMBANI, Chairperson, MICA Foundation and JAYA DESHMUKH, Director & CEO, MICA share how the School of Applied Creativity aims to equip learners with the tools to transform knowledge into innovation in an Al-driven world
-

Since the establishment of the Mudra Foundation for Communications Research and Education in 1991, and its evolution into the MICA Foundation in 2024, what key transformations have you observed in the fields of communication, education and research over the decades?
Tina Ambani: I actually got involved with MICA about six to eight years ago, and I believe the institution has consistently evolved in response to every new development in the world. It has remained at the forefront in everything it undertakes, be it communication, marketing or creativity. MICA has always been ahead of the curve. A great deal has changed at Mudra, which has undergone significant evolution. Even I find it quite different from when I first joined the Mudra board. So yes, many developments have taken place.
Several institutions in India have previously claimed to be the first to introduce AI labs or to integrate AI into elementary education. How does the MICA Foundation substantiate its claim of launching the country’s firstAI school — the School of Applied Creativity and what distinguishes this initiative in terms of its structure, curriculum and long-term vision?
