Snapdragon X marks a new chapter in Qualcomm's India strategy, as Savi Soin, President of Qualcomm India and Senior Vice President at Qualcomm globally, lays out the vision to mainstream AI across devices and price points
FOR SAVI Soin, President, Qualcomm India & Senior Vice President, Qualcomm, the launch of the new Snapdragon X series in India represents far more than just another product unveiling. It's the culmination of Qualcomm's sustained effort to expand its presence across personal computing, smartphones, and beyond—all while keeping AI capabilities within reach for a broader audience. In a nutshell, it is a cornerstone of its Snapdragon strategy for India.
BW Businessworld caught up with the Chandigarh native on the sidelines of the Snapdragon X launch for India. Soin, who attended Delhi's St. Columba's school, has spent more than two decades at Qualcomm, serving in two stints—almost 19 years in his current tenure—serving on the senior leadership team for over a decade. Under Soin’s guidance, Qualcomm has been ramping up activity in India. A design centre in southern India is already operational, while the marketing push for Snapdragon has hit a new high. Qualcomm even launched its most affordable Snapdragon 5G-enabled chip for sub-Rs 10,000 smartphones adopted by Redmi and Poco. The Snapdragon X series launch marks the fourth major rollout in just six months.
Qualcomm’s ambition is to ensure that artificial intelligence becomes pervasive across different product categories—and crucially, at price points that will not break the bank.
“We believe technology, especially AI, should be available to everyone,” Soin says. “This launch is a significant step forward in making AI more accessible, even at affordable tiers.”
