In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we often forget to take some time out for ourselves. So, when we got hold of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire for a couple of weeks, it felt like the perfect opportunity to visit Jaipur and Sambhar lake for the first time.

It all began when a few weeks ago I realised how I had been so busy in the last few months that they seem to have disappeared from my life as if they were never there. And no matter how much I tried, I for the life of me couldn't remember the last time I had done something fun or spent a weekend doing nothing but what I wanted. So, one Friday night in December, the plan was made, and I picked up the Maruti Suzuki Dzire from our office parking lot with the intention of heading out of the city the next morning. The only problem was one that every person who wants to go on a road trip is eventually faced with the problem of choosing a destination. My priorities, however, were clear - first, I wanted to escape the buzz of NCR, and second, I wanted to be near water! Now there could have been many obvious choices, but somehow, the lakes of Rajasthan have always caught my fancy. After some deliberation and advice from my colleagues, I settled on Sambhar Lake, with a stopover at Jaipur. Now, in a way, Jaipur has always been like Delhi's own backyard, and therefore I had never really thought of exploring it. And given that I had an opportunity to do that, I decided to go with it.
