The MG Windsor EV Pro builds on a solid foundation, but does it go far enough to justify its price?

MORE WIND IN THE SAIL

Ever since its launch in India, the MG Windsor EV has been in the spotlight. With its distinctive design, extensive list of features, and innovative ownership options - such as Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) - the Windsor EV arrived with a price tag that made it the ideal EV under ₹20 lakh in India. It was no surprise, then, that the Windsor won the prestigious 'Best of 2024' at the autoX Awards and went on to become the best-selling EV in India for seven consecutive months! Now, MG aims to take it up a notch with the new 'Pro' variant of the Windsor EV. So, we drove it in the breathtaking landscape of Shillong to discover what it's all about.

WHAT'S DIFFERENT?

imageThe first thing worth highlighting is the price, for it will give you an idea of how popular this car has become. JSW MG Motor India launched the Windsor EV Pro at an introductory price of ₹17.5 lakh for the first 8,000 customers. In the EV world, 8,000 units represent a significant figure, and remarkably, all of them were booked within just 24 hours. As a result, the introductory offer was discontinued the very next day. So, the Windsor EV Pro now costs ₹18.10 lakh outright or ₹13.10 lakh plus ₹4.5/km under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme (all prices, ex-showroom).
