ONCE UPON A TIME, the idea of a two-tonne SUV that could outdrag a supercar would have seemed absurd. These days, it's almost expected. So, the new Tesla Model Y Performance isn't here to shock anyone; it's here to refine a recipe that the brand has been serving up for years: massive pace, everyday usability and cutting-edge tech.
As with its predecessor, the acceleration figures of this new Model Y Performance are mightily impressive. Tesla claims it can sprint from 0-60mph in 3.3sec, putting it roughly on a par with the more powerful (but heavier) Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and MG IM6 Performance.
