THE ABILITY TO multitask is a valuable skill that not everyone possesses. The Maserati GranTurismo coupé does; it serves up monstrous performance while remaining largely comfy enough for the long trips that its name suggests to be its forte. Can this also be true, though, of this convertible version?

Like its sibling, the GranCabrio offers seats for four, but here they sit beneath a fabric roof. This can be lowered in around 14 seconds, at speeds of up to 30mph, so rain needn't always halt play. The presence of the same 542bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine under the bonnet as the equivalent GranTurismo Trofeo means you'll want to play quite often, too; the 0-62mph time of 3.6sec matches the similar-priced Mercedes-AMG SL63's, although the BMW M8 Competition Convertible is even quicker (for a lot less money) at 3.3sec.
