BMW 2 SERIES GRAN COUPÉ

As someone who finds sedans more alluring than SUVs, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is good news. That said, the previous generation 2 Series didn't enjoy a very warm welcome when launched half a decade ago, but BMW is confident the new car will strike a chord with younger buyers. Importantly, while it has gotten bigger and looks stylish as you would expect of a sedan with the BMW roundel on its hood, the new 2 Series has a smaller, three-cylinder engine under its hood. Does it still deliver the goods?

imageThe swanky design catches your attention, and the new 2 Series impresses in heaps on the styling front. It looks youthful and appealing, especially in this shade of grey. I also like the grille, as it isn't too large or oddly shaped. The grille is also illuminated like bigger BMWs, to help the car feel grander. I also like the headlamp design, as the headlamp unit is split into three vertically to integrate cornering lights, LEDs for the DRLs and turn indicators, as also the matrix high beam and a dynamic bending function. The front end thus looks more appealing than the previous generation 2 Series.

imageWheel sizes up to 18 inches from 17 inches previously, and add to the stance. The 2 Series also uses frameless doors now, helping it look more upmarket. The silhouette looks sportier from the sides, and the integration of the boot with the sloping roofline looks perfect and I have to say, this is one good looking sedan.
