STUDDS HELIOS D1

FULL-FACE VALUE OR FULL-FACE FLUFF?
Motorcyclists are a strange breed.
We'll spend lakhs on performance mods, branded gloves, and action cams, but when it comes to the one thing protecting our actual skulls, we suddenly develop a budget. That’s exactly the demographic Studds is trying to tap with the Helios D1: a full-face helmet that looks ready to hit the winding roads, speaks safety fluently, and still doesn’t demand a loan approval.
But is it just eye-candy on a shelf, or a legitimate lid for real-world riding? We've been testing the Helios D1 over the past few weeks, and here’s what we think.
Design & First Impressions
Visually, the Helios D1 is quite the looker. The White N1 colourway we tested combines a clean white base with striking blue graphics, giving it a proper sporty persona - sharp lines, race-inspired striping, and just enough contrast to fool your brain into thinking it's faster. The shape is aerodynamic, with an integrated spoiler and well-sculpted vents that don’t scream “budget helmet.” In fact, it looks pricier than it is—always a good start.
What helps its cause even further is that it claims to meet ISI, DOT, and ECE certifications. That's a strong first line of defence for a helmet that undercuts most “upmarket” brands on pricing.
Weight & Fit
At 1425 ± 50g, it’s not featherweight, but it’s not neck-breaking either. For daily riding or even the odd highway run, the weight distribution feels manageable. The hypoallergenic liner is soft enough for all-day wear and doesn’t turn your head into a pressure-cooked dumpling - at least not until you hit peak summer.
