THREE way FLING TALKING TOURING TYRES ROADTEC™ 02

We like to keep things balanced here at MSL, as much as we can, and while the three bikes we chose for the trip were about as different as it is possible to be while staying within the ‘sports tourer’ bracket, not only did we even things up by using soft luggage on all three, we also fitted the same tyres.

Of course, given the nature of the bikes and the test, they were going to be tyres that would cope with in excess of a thousand miles without issue, on all manner of roads and, given we were headed north of the border, there'd probably be a bit of rain too... As you're undoubtedly beginning to appreciate, we were just a bit needy with our request to Metzeler for a wonder-tyre. Their reply was the Roadtec 02. A tyre that hit the market just last year, building on the solid foundations of the Roadtec 01 and is dubbed by the brand as a Super-Sport-Touring product.

The tech

Primarily designed with durability, wet grip and outright performance at its heart, it's a hoop that Bruce first had the chance to try first hand on its launch on the TT course, and he came away genuinely impressed by its versatility and capability, being as happy in the wet as it was at full chat over a closed section of the Mountain course.
