Duke Boys Face Charges
Car and Driver
|March - April 2025
The Dodge Charger Daytona takes the good ol' muscle car and gives it a new-age powertrain, whether we're ready or not.
HERESY TO SOME, the way forward for others, electric muscle cars are here regardless of whether everyone is ready for them. Case in point: the new Charger Daytona, Dodge's first EV and the two-door spearhead of a new Charger lineup that the brand hopes will help it navigate the sticky tendrils of its storied past.
Later this year, to cover its bases, Dodge will add gas-burning Charger Sixpack models with twin-turbo inline-six power, plus four-door Daytona and Sixpack variants. Not exactly the stuff of legend, but the Daytona's handsome riff on the iconic '68 Charger warrants some optimism. Them Duke boys would revel in the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Scat Pack's 670 horses and estimated mid-three-second 60-mph time (figure closer to five seconds for the downrated 496-hp R/T trim). They'd also appreciate its 16.1-inch front and rear brakes with Brembo front calipers, plus the fact that all 2024 Scat Pack models (a late introduction) come standard with the optional- for-2025 $3495 Track package. That bundle offers Brembo rear calipers, adaptive dampers, a sport-tuned suspension, an onboard video and data recorder, and high-back sport seats. This story is from the March - April 2025 edition of Car and Driver.
