IT STARTED THE WAY MOST GOOD STORIES DO-WITHOUT A PLAN. Just me, a full tank of fuel, the key to the new BMW X3 xDrive20d M Sport, and absolutely no idea where I was headed. Sounds like a fantasy, I know. And trust me, I used to be one of those daydreamers stuck in traffic, watching sleek SUVs glide past with the same longing you reserve for pizza during a diet. The moment I saw the new BMW X3 xDrive20d M Sport parked outside, glinting under the mild Indian sun like a German butler at your doorstep, I knew this was no ordinary weekday.

First impressions? Well, the X3 isn’t going to drop jaws at a red carpet. Let’s just say it leans a little more “German efficiency” than “Italian drama.” It’s a bit boxy, especially when viewed dead-on from the rear three-quarters. BMW’s recent design language has stirred up as much debate as pineapple on pizza, but on this M Sport-trimmed X3, it sort of works. It’s neat, clean, and assertive without being obnoxious. That said, something about the side profile felt... off. I couldn’t quite place it—like meeting someone wearing one sock slightly lower than the other.

But then again, no one really buys a BMW to stand outside and look at it all day. So I did what any sane person would do: unlocked the doors and stepped into the cabin.
