Yet another edition of the Hyundai Heritage Drive takes us to the beautiful and quaint city of Dehradun. Abhinav Jakhar takes the Exter on an epic quest exploring its hidden gems

The Oxford Dictionary defines heritage as ‘the history, traditions, buildings and objects that a country or society has had for many years and that are considered an important part of its character’. In that respect, our great country has a fascinating assortment of traditions, culture and heritage in every nook and cranny. This got us thinking about how every city in India has a unique set of historic landmarks, whether relatively new or old. Dehradun is no different, it has a war memorial dating back to the 19th century, as well as schools and research institutes over a century old, just to name a few. It's been a hub for education, with prestigious institutes that cater to several fields.

Dehradun is situated approximately 250km from the Delhi NCR and the travel time is around five to six hours. However, the Government of India is planning to open an expressway from Delhi to Dehradun, which is expected to be operational shortly and will cut travel time by two and a half hours. Both highway and the expressway were dispatched with ease, thanks to the Exter's good road manners, and ability to sit at the stipulated speed limit without breaking a sweat.
