Design Thinking is not new but it's the growing adoption that's encouraging. The World University of Design is a testimony having emerged as India's premier design-focused university, writes Richa Tyagi.

The industry-academia link is propelling the automotive industry in the right direction. In the realm of 'Design Thinking' the World University of Design (WUD) is fostering innovation across disciplines like transportation design from its nerve centre in Sonipat, Haryana. Haryana known for bringing accolades in sports is making rapid strides in automotive design covering the spectrum end-to-end courtesy well-designed course curriculum since 2016 with WUD as one example as per Dr Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor of the World University of Design. Conceptualized in 2015 and operational since 2016, WUD has broken down traditional silos by integrating diverse creative streams under one roof. “As the country’s only design-focused university, WUD has broken barriers and brought together diverse creative streams. Offering programs in design, visual arts, performing arts, transportation design, design management, architecture, and more, the institution has rapidly become a hub for fostering innovation and creativity,” Dr Gupta stated.
A unique vision is fructifying With a student body of over 3,000 pursuing more than 30 specialisations, spanning diverse fields like fashion design, communication, gaming, architecture, and transportation design to name a few, Dr Gupta expressed great pride. “WUD prides itself on producing “Made in WUD” graduates who are making a difference across industries especially automotive. WUD alumni are transforming sectors with creativity and innovation,” claimed Dr Gupta. The institution’s placement record, approaching 100 per cent, is a testament to its commitment to preparing students for real-world challenges.
