Greaves Cotton-Ligier Partnership Signals India's Rising Role in European Micromobility Powertrains. A Made-in-India Euro V+ diesel engine underscores India's credibility as a global supplier of regulatory- compliant mobility solutions
India's transition from a cost-competitive manufacturing base to a trusted supplier of advanced, regulation-compliant automotive technologies is gathering pace. A recent partnership between Greaves Cotton Ltd. and Ligier Group, one of Europe's best-known manufacturers of light and heavy quadricycles, exemplifies this shift in a tangible and market-facing manner. Under this collaboration, Greaves-designed 499cc REVO D+ diesel engines, certified to Euro V+ emission standards, are powering Ligier's JS50 and Myli microcar models across multiple European markets.
The engines are designed and manufactured at Greaves Cotton's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility, reinforcing India's growing role in supplying powertrains that meet some of the world's most stringent regulatory and quality benchmarks. Commenting on the partnership, Parag Satpute, Managing Director and Group CEO, Greaves Cotton Ltd., described the collaboration as a milestone that demonstrates how Made-in-India powertrains are enabling European mobility solutions. He underlined the role of Greaves' Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in delivering global-quality products and reaffirmed the company's commitment to meeting OEM expectations around performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
