LDV is another manufacturer from China, but one that has been here for a while, mainly selling in the commercial van segment.

LDV's Terron 9 4x4 ute launched only weeks before our testing, and after initially being impressed by its performance on a controlled test track, we were keen to get it on board and learn more about how it performs in the wild on familiar bush tracks.

First thing about the LDV is that it's one of the cheapest utes in the Dirty Dozen, retailing for $53K from LDV dealers. That price is for the Terron 9 Origin model we have here, but by the time you're reading this there will also be a Terron 9 Evolve model on sale at $58,937. We would have loved to have had the Evolve on this test, with its addition of a front locker and higher-grade features, but none were available at the time.

The Terron 9 Origin sits at the larger end of the midsize ute segment, and that's something we think will appeal to many buyers. Inside and out, it's a bigger vehicle than most of the others in this test.
