ARTISTS RITU AND SURYA SINGH'S WONDERLAND OF A HOMESTUDIO IN THE PINK CITY URGES YOU TO LOOK AT THE BEAUTY AND NARRATIVE OF WASTE.

Husband-wife artist duo Ritu and Surya Singh, better known as Wolf, live at "The Farm", a unique 20-acre madhouse of wonders in the heart of Jaipur.

The property was inherited by the Singhs from Surya's princely side of the family and borrows beams, pillars, and doors from his ancestral palace in Khandu, near Mewar.

"Since 2018, we have been growing art here!" Ritu says as she leads us in. Fuchsia pink bougainvilleas greet us at the entrance, while two parallel artist studios open up the space. A little further ahead is a large amphitheatre-like section, which displays life-size tin-can poppies inspired by Brigitte Singh's block-printing work. The Singhs believe in rearranging their artworks throughout the property, stating, "We should be able to enjoy our own work, no?" Their work - mostly sculptural art pieces - is whimsical, provocative and made from industrial discard and waste.

In another lifetime, Ritu was an ad film producer and spatial designer, while Surya was involved in managing his ancestral property. Introduced about 20 years ago by a mutual friend at a house party, they have since spent a total of maybe 45 days apart.
