Hedgerows are an important habitat for priority species of which there are 130 in England alone providing a wildlife corridor as well as helping to sequester carbon, reduce soil erosion and flooding. It is not surprising then that their importance in nature is recognised by protective legislation It should be noted that where the various regulations apply, this can vary according to where you live. Do some research and there is plenty of help out there as planting new hedgerows is much encouraged.
