If you have a hedge on your property, by law, you have a degree of responsibility to keep it properly maintained. Maintenance includes keeping hedges tidy, at a suitable height, maintained by an appropriate person. In fact, hedge trimming is such a hot button topic and such a large source of neighbourly disputes that the 'The High Hedge Legislation' was added to Part 8 of the 2005 amendment to the Anti-Social Behaviour Act of 2003. In this legislation a 'high hedge' is defined as any hedge over 2m tall (approximately 6ft); a group of two or more trees of shrubs; and formed wholly or mostly from evergreens or semi-evergreens.
