A dazed horse was seen with red ‘injury and blood’ marks on its body during a Muharram procession in Dongri, Bombay, post which animal welfare activists raised an issue.

The video showing the horse was later deleted as it appeared to be paint marks and not blood. However, the Shia Muslim community has faced ire for their use of animals in such processions which leave them disoriented and vulnerable to fumes and noise. Surely, the horse is the one troubled by these practices and refrain must be practised instead.
