A sash, at last!

Sarah Moy fulfils a lifelong ambition, a spooky superstar” retains a title and polocrosse provides a winning formula

SARAH MOY won a “long-coveted sash” when she piloted Temples Last Clover into the top spot in the senior 70 individual showjumping.
“It doesn’t feel real,” said the Dartford Riding Club (RC) member. “I’ve participated in many BRC [British Riding Clubs] championships but my previous best result was fifth at the arena eventing championships. I’ve always aspired to get a sash and so this result is a dream come true.
“I thought someone would take a tighter turn in the jumpoff but no one could. I’ve been working hard with my trainer and all that effort paid off.”
Thirty-six combinations produced a double clear to progress to the jump-off. Sarah and the 16-year-old Irish sports horse, whom she has been riding for 11 years, finished almost two-and-a-half seconds faster than their nearest rivals.
Team spoils in this class were awarded to Sevenoaks RC, who topped the tightly contested nine-team jump-off.
Sisters Shannon and Summer Tasker (Mr Untouchable and Tofifee respectively), Elizabeth Finlason (Moose Man) and Clare Moses (Peaceful Rebel) comprised the winning team.
“It was the first time we qualified a team for this class so we came not quite knowing what to expect and with the aim of just enjoying ourselves. We are ecstatic to have won,” said showjumping team manager Katherine Clewley.
