Covid-19: Human Relationships
Woman's Era
|December 2020
A sudden realisation from robotic relationships to human relationships.

The deadly disease Coronavirus which has spread worldwide is becoming a horror phase of everyone’s life. The moments of boredom in isolation are forcing us to think about our unforeseen future. Interestingly, this sudden wave of pandemic Coronavirus is not only questioning our lifestyle, but it has also pointed out the unavoidable idea of spending time with relationships. Be it parents or our beloved boyfriend or spouse, children due to our busy life we’ve been witnessing an increasing trend of avoiding our utmost important blood relations or the loved ones.
Concept of Joint Family and transition to Nuclear Family
The concept of a joint family which was earlier hailed by everyone suddenly took a backseat due to various reasons. These reasons varied from time constraint to excessive indulgence in working life and a desire to obtain privacy.
Love and discipline were the two primary components to living life but due to the indulgence in ignoring parents’ advice and constant disrespect towards their elders vanished the idea of being in a family.
Over the decades, mental healing through compassion and forgiveness in a community was the most preferred purpose of obtaining a self-fulfilling life.
The statistics of the joint families are quite evident to prove that across India, the need to be in a joint family decreased.
As per the socio-demographic analysis, the percentage of joint families fell significantly from 19.1 percent (3.69 crores) to 16.1 percent (4 crores) across India.
In the rural areas, the dip was sharper– from 20.1 percent to 16.8 percent. Comparing these statistics with urban areas, then it fell from 16.5 percent to 14.6 percent.
