He called their marriage a symptom of the “never-ending delusional bullsh*t” of his cocaine-soaked life: a four-day engagement that turned into a doomed marriage and ended in a broken heart for Renate Blauel.

Now, three decades after she tied the knot with entertainment icon Elton John on Valentine’s Day in Darling Point, Sydney, in 1984, Renate, 67, has launched legal proceedings against her famous ex in a UK court.

What exactly has caused reclusive Renate to break her decades of silence is not entirely clear, although sources believe the Germanborn sound engineer is seeking an injunction against her former lover after the publication of his memoir Me was released last year.

According to insiders, the book violates a non-disclosure agreement that both parties signed after their marriage dissolved in 1988.

“She didn’t see the book before publication. She got wind of it and said, ‘Make sure, please, that I’m not in it.’ She didn’t want to be made to look a fool,” a friend said.
