While the Queen’s blunt statement appeared to end discussion on the Sussex situation from Buckingham Palace’s point of view, Woman’s Day’s sources say that behind the scenes, courtiers are still scrambling to contain the fallout – and fear for what might be next.

Amid hushed conversations behind closed doors, we’re told a plan is being hatched to dispatch the Duke, 38, and Duchess of Cambridge to California to meet with Harry and Meghan and see if they can’t salvage the situation to save the monarchy.

“The impression everyone got from the interview was that Harry and Meghan felt unheard in their roles as royals and had no choice but to go as public as humanly possible with their version of the truth,” says a source.
