Add a boundary that looks good and helps out wildlife

Wild about HEDGES

Bountiful boundaries

Once upon a time, most gardens were bordered by hedges. Sadly, many have been replaced by fences or ripped out in the quest for a parking space. But they are easy to put back where they belong. And in the process, you’ll gain a living barrier to noise, wind and pollution, while providing lush, green corridors for wildlife.

Pretty mixes

Think carefully about the type of plants that will make up your hedge – after all, it will be there a long time.

To benefit wildlife, a blend of native species that offer abundant flowers, berries and nuts is ideal. Plants such as the guelder rose, spindle, hawthorn and hazel are excellent candidates, or go for a ready-mixed selection from a nursery or garden centre.
