Aled Jones reveals how his attitude towards work and life has changed after a couple of years of uncertainty

Following two years of delays, due to the pandemic, Aled Jones is finally singing in front of an audience again and, this time, he’s bringing his iconic voice to 24 cathedrals and churches across the UK.
‘It’s a case of third time lucky because this tour has been postponed twice,’ Aled tells us. ‘I don’t think I’ll ever feel so joyous to do something that I took for granted.’
He adds, ‘Some of the cathedrals are enormous, like Liverpool, then you have little ones like Bangor. Every day is a different experience, whereas when you do theatres or concerts, the venues tend to all look the same.’
But the 51-year-old insists it will be far from your traditional cathedral service. ‘There will be pop music too – it’s an evening full of laughs and stories. And if you’re bored of the music, you can look at the architecture!’ he jokes.
Aled shot to fame back in 1985 at the age of 15, when he had a hit with his version of We’re Walking in the Air – the original of which was featured in 1982’s animated film, The Snowman. But despite his many years in the industry, the excitement of performing live never fades.
