English teaching

We have successfully set up 18 free English classes. These take place on both Nosy Komba, in many of our neighbouring villages, such as Ampangorina and Banana Village, as well as Nosy Be, in Hellville. We also have daily classes at our Turtle Cove Camp for local staff and their children. There are beginners’ classes, advanced classes, adult classes as well as one-on-one classes. We have also created two Malagasy Sakalava-to-English dictionaries. Over the last few years, we can proudly say that we are responsible for the notable increase in English spoken by the villagers on Nosy Komba. This opportunity has allowed these communities to better communicate with tourists, tourism being one of the main forms of income, as well as offering them a source of knowledge that they would not have had before. MRCI proudly provides bursaries to seven high school children, one junior school and one university student, enabling these students to study at no cost.
