When you write a column about tech for 10-plus years, you do find that you repeat yourself a bit. I’m sure you can identify with that everyday concern.
A piece I’ve definitely written a number of times over the years is one about real innovation being replaced with more marginal improvements to existing things. And another is about the fact we’re living in a tech golden age, but everyone is so used to it that they are rather unappreciative. And so, here we go again…
Or rather, we don’t! In recent months, there seems to be a trend towards genuinely out-there products and features. And it’s part of a new Golden Age of Tech that I hope we’ll all be appreciative of.
In the old days, eccentrics knocked up whacky inventions in sheds. In the slightly less old days, eccentrics knocked up whacky inventions and got people to fund them on Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
