Active cricketers of today, whether young or experienced, are not averse to expressing their views in public. They do not mind speaking out on contentious issues and raising a hornet’s nest. Ambati Rayudu’s sarcastic jibe that he would watch the World Cup with 3-D glasses after the selectors picked a ``three dimensional’’ player in Vijay Shankar over him for the tournament is now part of cricketing folklore. Rayudu is almost 34 but now we have a promising cricketer just 19 who has openly admitted at being disappointed after being overlooked for the tour of the West Indies. Considering his prodigious talent and his recent record – incidentally with the India A team in the Caribbean – there is little doubt that Shubman Gill should have been picked in at least one of the three senior squads announced on Sunday.
