The West Indies cricket is marred by selection issues and availability of less talented players in Test cricket while Pakistan have different sort of problems. We have spoken about West Indies a lot in the past but now the above mentioned sub-continent nation has become the talk of the town. From ban on hosting international matches to spot fixing, disciplinary issues to internal politics among the board members, there is no end to misery. It is not that these shortcomings have just started or are being highlighted too much as there is no smoke without fire.
We can’t deny the fact that cricket need strong Pakistan which is the only way out to keep international cricket competitive. However, credit should be given to players, who have held on to their respective performances despite these trouble making scenarios. The Test team is ranked no.3 in the ICC Test rankings, which is an achievement despite not playing at home since long. Failing in the ODIs and T20 cricket have disheartened the fans but this is what happens when cricketers are not given what is required to perform at the highest level.
