Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been among the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) because they have placed their faith in a core group of players and backed them to the hilt. But, of course, due to the mega auction, they could only retain four of their players, and they went for MS Dhoni (Rs 12 crore), all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 16 crore) and Moeen Ali (Rs 8 crore) and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 6 crore), who was the Orange Cap winner with 635 runs in IPL 2021. CSK’s biggest buy at the auction was Deepak Chahar (Rs 14 crore), who is on his way to becoming a genuine all-rounder.
