The Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise have made a massive move ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, replacing Rohit Sharma as captain with all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The latter was traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) during the trade window. And while the move seemed a step in the direction of choosing the next captain, the decision to appoint him as leader directly for the upcoming IPL season has come as a shock to some. According to MI’s official statement, the move “is part of legacy building and staying true to the MI philosophy of being future-ready."
