Celtic target three Premiership points against Motherwell

- Paul Cuddihy

HOME COMFORTS

CELTIC return to Paradise this Sunday when they play host to Motherwell in the Premiership, and Neil Lennon’s side will be looking to take all three points from the encounter.

This weekend marks the 280th league clash between the sides, with Celtic having recorded 171 wins compared to 49 for Motherwell. The other 59 meetings ended all-square.

It has been a tough start to the season for Steve Robinson’s side, having lost their first two games 1-0 to Ross County and Dundee United respectively, followed by draws against Livingston (2-2) and Hibernian (0-0).

Last weekend saw the first Lanarkshire derby of the 2020/21 season, with Hamilton Accies the visitors to Fir Park, and that match finished 1-0 to the Accies.

Ahead of Sunday’s game, we take a look at three previous games between the sides, starting with the first-ever clash back in 1904.
