Canyon Endurace gets all-road capability

Bigger tyre clearances and gravel-style bosses feature in new range
Canyon has just released a long-awaited update to the affordable end of the Endurace platform. A new Endurace carbon CF and aluminium AL range get the extra comfort and nimbler handling of the flagship Endurace SLX plus all-road extras such as more clearance and bosses on the top tube.
Central to the Endurace’s long-distance comfort, according to Canyon, is its Sport Geometry concept – already used by the Endurace CF SLX – which keeps reach shorter and the stack higher compared with its race models such as the Ultimate.
The other part of the puzzle – keeping the handling sharp and the ride engaging – is achieved by mimicking aspects of the race bikes’ geometry, according to Canyon: “If we take trail measurement as an indicator of a bike’s agility, both the new Endurace CF and Endurace AL lines, and our Ultimate family, run around 60mm in a size M for a comparable feel at the controls.”
Surprisingly, the wheelbase is slightly longer on the Ultimate compared to the new Endurace, backing up Canyon’s stated aim to maintain the “agility to respond and the accuracy to carve precision lines across the road”.
Clearance has been upped to 35mm, which leaves plenty of room for the stock 30mm front and 32mm rear tyres, though mudguard eyes are absent.
As for sizing, going from 3XS up to 2XL, everyone should be catered for. The two smallest sizes use 650b wheels to keep everything in proportion and reduce toe overlap and there are no more ‘WMN’ women-specific sizes.
