Along, loud blast of the EF Education First team bus horn echoed around the central square in Oudenaarde, the finish town of the Tour of Flanders, as Italian Alberto Bettiol crossed the line just outside town.
The 25-year-old’s maiden pro victory capped a breakout spring where he narrowly missed out on a podium at E3 BinckBank Classic and rode aggressively at Milan-San Remo.
