Macro photography can be quite challenging but the results can be rewarding. Certain parameters, like the choice of the lens’ focal length, controlling the depth of field, framing the subject, correct use of the shutter speed etc. are within our control. What is often not in our control, is the lighting. That’s why we every so often resort to the use of flashguns. But flashguns are considered as point source of light, which result in harsh unwieldy shadows. That’s why we use light modifiers to ‘soften’ and ‘control’ the light. There are several such devices available – some good, some not-so-good.
