Refine macro shots while still retaining their authenticity with Digital Photo Professional

- Brian Worley

Make The Most Of Macro Photos

Macro pictures of natural subjects deserve special treatment to showcase the details and delights that nature provides. Canon’s Digital Photo Professional is a great tool for extracting the max quality from Raw files. DPP works with the capability of every EOS camera’s Raw files, drawing the best from them while retaining their true representation of the natural world is easy with DPP.

When working with hi-res images, DPP simplifies the process of converting Raw into fabulous finished shots. The main tools to refine your images are sharpening, contrast, and saturation. These are delivered by choosing an appropriate Picture Style and, where needed, adjusting of highlight and shadow detail to improve the perceived sharpness.

Colour is largely influenced by the choice of white balance, and while auto white balance is great in many circumstances, refinement can make all the difference for natural history shots.
