I only upgrade my cameras when it is necessary. Over the years, running a business makes you more frugal. I only upgrade if I'm itching for new features that will push my creative mind to greater heights. When the Canon EOS 6D came on the scene, I was staggered that this compact full-frame DSLR not only had GPS, but Wi-Fi too. The latter of which can come in handy…
I have visited the Isle of Harris/Lewis a few times over the last ten years and I am always looking for new and exciting ways to photograph popular locations. I had been thinking about Callinish stone circle, a remarkable neolithic site with some of the most photogenic standing stones in the United Kingdom. There are plenty of dawn and dusk images out there, but very few images light painted. Ask yourself – if all you intend to do is create a facsimile, are you really doing yourself justice?
