Oh, for heaven's sake Harry, make the first move or you'll regret it

YESTERDAY, on a freezing Mayday, the Queen – wearing cheerful red and a brooch that was a gift from Prince Philip – was in Portsmouth bidding godspeed to the mighty aircraft carrier that bears her name.

- Jennifer Selway

Oh, for heaven's sake Harry, make the first move or you'll regret it

She – a 95-year-old widow – has gone back to work.

We don’t know her inner thoughts, we never do, but it’s hard to imagine that her grandson Harry’s latest deafening salvo wasn’t on her mind.

Oh, but wouldn’t it have been nice to see the old Harry at her side, gallantly escorting his grandma, tall and gorgeous in his uniform with that cheeky grin. It would be a heart-warming symbol of continuity. But Harry doesn’t seem to care about that stuff anymore.

Meanwhile, none of us is spared his inner thoughts.

Harry is the star of an Apple TV series on mental health called The Me You Can’t See. He is interviewed (again!) by Auntie Oprah while a handful of telegenic people talk us through their traumas.

It’s slow-going, to be honest, and without Harry this TV series (he’s “executive producer”) would be of little interest. Because let’s face it, he’s the prize, the golden goose. He’s like a hostage appearing in videos made by captors to prove he’s still alive. His new life appears even more circumscribed than his old one.
