Over 100 stars to raise funds for India’s relief work

Some of the biggest names in Bollywood and Hollywood, including Steven Spielberg, Nancy Ajram, Ed Sheeran, Mick Jagger and A.R. Rahman, among many other personalities, are coming together for a global fundraiser on Facebook on India Independence Day.
The three-hour event, called “We For India:” Saving Lives, Protecting Livelihoods, will take place on Sunday (Aug.15), and will be live-streamed globally over Facebook.
The event, which hopes to raise donations upward of $3.5 million (Dhs12.8m), will be hosted by Indian actor Rajkummar Rao, the star of the Oscar and BAFTA-nominated film “The White Tiger.”
The show will also feature medical professionals who will share their experiences and urgent requirements to keep India safe.
According to a press release: “All the donations will be allocated to post COVID-19 pandemic missions and provide vital preventative measures against future waves.”
CRITICAL FACILITIES: The funds will also provide “critical facilities such as oxygen concentrators, cylinders, ventilators, and essential medicines as well as ICU units.”
