Married Aussie cricket captain in tears as he makes grovelling apology for lewd texts
Texting scandal: Australian cricket captain Tim Paine, pictured with wife Bonnie, quit today after it was revealed he had been exchanging explicit messages with a cricket board employee
AUSTRALIAN cricket has been hit on the eve of the 2021 Ashes by the shock resignation of Test captain Tim Paine in a sexting scandal.
The 36-year-old married father-of-two burst into tears at a press conference, apologising for his behaviour and announcing he was stepping down over a lewd picture and messages he sent to a female employee at Cricket Tasmania.

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and pain that I have caused to my wife, my family, and to the other party,” he said. “I’m sorry for any damage that this does to the reputation of our sport.”
