The newly introduced guidelines for the ‘new normal’ has drawn flak for having more grey areas than clarity, resulting in spreading more confusion among the public.

Dr. Paba Palihawadana said that while they encourage the public to wear face masks it is not mandatory to do so in private vehicles

However, the Ministry of Health insisted that the guidelines are clearly spelt out and the relevant authorities have been duly educated. Last week the Ministry of Health issued updated guidelines for the public focused on the ‘new normal’ with the country gradually resuming day-to-day activities. The updated guidelines included strict restrictions on social events, religious activities and tuition classes, among others.
