That broke our hearts
Stellenbosch FC attacker Langelihle Phili is one of the hottest properties in South African football right now. The 21-year-old from Tshelimnyama in Durban recently surpassed Iqraam Rayners as the youngest player to reach 10 goals for the Cape Winelands side. In fact, \"Major\", as he is affectionately known, has hardly put a foot wrong in the past 12 months, from playing in the CAF Confederation Cup with his club to winning the CAF U20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and reaching the FIFA U20 World Cup knockout stages with Amajita. In this interview with Soccer Laduma's Mzoxolo Budaza, Phili reveals his belief that there's still a lot more to achieve going forward.

You are only as strong as the team around you
After spending 15 years behind the scenes at Mamelodi Sundowns, former senior performance analyst Goolam Valodia has had a front-row seat to one of the most successful eras in the club's history. Valodia joined the Brazilians in 2010, at a time when performance analysis was still relatively new in the PSL. Over the years, he played an important role within the club's technical department as Sundowns established themselves as a dominant force in South African football and on the continent, winning multiple domestic titles and the CAF Champions League in 2016. During his time at the club, Valodia worked closely with various technical teams, including those under the leadership of former head coach Pitso Mosimane, contributing through detailed tactical analysis, opposition scouting, and the growing use of data in modern football. Now exploring new opportunities within the game and having recently completed his UEFA B coaching licence, Valodia has also begun working with Banyana Banyana, as an opposition analyst. In this interview with Soccer Laduma's Masebe Qina, he reflects on his long journey at Sundowns, the evolution of performance analysis in South African football, and his ambitions.

Sundowns’ new scoring machine
Mamelodi Sundowns are always on the lookout for players in South America. This time they’ve brought in a player who could remind the club’s supporters of Colombian striker Leonardo Castro. Colombian striker Brayan Leon joined Masandawana in January and has already scored some big goals for Sundowns, including the two which have kept their CAF Champions League dream alive this season. Like Castro did in 2016, Leon will be hoping to play an important role for Sundowns 10 years later as they look to finally get their hands on that elusive Champions League title. Soccer Laduma's Tshepang Mailwane looks at who Leon is and talks to experts about the impact he could have at the club going forward.
